Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
General questions
How exactly does the VANFITTERY principle work?
Our modules are designed to transform your everyday vehicle into a camper in just a few minutes - and back again just as quickly. The centrepiece is the so-called „fitting“. While the basic module is often universal, the fitting ensures that everything is precisely adapted to the interior contours of your specific vehicle type. So nothing wobbles or rattles.
Which product fits in my vehicle?
You can select your vehicle here and all suitable modules will be displayed. If you cannot find your vehicle model, please contact us.

Suitable modules for your vehicle:
Which module or combination is the right one for my vehicle?
As every campervan is different when travelling and every vehicle has different dimensions, we have developed our space concepts for you. We have pooled our experience from countless nights in a van here. You can find a detailed overview on our Room concepts page.
You can roughly orientate yourself on the following categories:
High-roof estate short wheelbase (e.g. VW Caddy)
Here is our CampingBox Classic the absolute favourite. It makes optimum use of the compact space and turns your car into a fully-fledged mini camper in minutes.
High-roof estate long wheelbase (e.g. VW Caddy Maxi)
You have more room to manoeuvre here. In many LR high-roof station wagons, the CampingBox Classic also very good. An alternative is the CampingBox Vario. It is made to measure and fits into any vehicle. If you want to transport sports luggage (such as bicycles) in the interior, our pull-out bed system is a very good alternative.
Small vans / vans: (e.g. VW Bulli, Mercedes Vito)
Van„ concept: The most popular combination of Van bed system and Van kitchen. Ideal for maximum living and sleeping comfort.
Transverse„ concept: Perfect if you need a wide centre aisle for surfboards or mountain bikes. Here we combine the Cross pull-out bed system with the Storage space plus. For even more storage space, this room concept can be combined with the Eurobox module or Cool box module be expanded.
CampingBox„ concept: If you are looking for a CampingBox for your van, the CampingBox Pro the best choice.
Large-capacity transports (e.g. VW Crafter, Mercedes Sprinter)
We are currently working on transferring our modular principle to the „big ones“. Register for our waiting list, to be the first to find out about the new solutions.
I'm still unsure - can you help me decide?
Absolutely! We know that an extension is an investment that has to fit. If you are still unsure after looking at our vehicle overview or the room concepts, simply write us a message using the contact form. We'll be happy to help you put together the perfect setup for your travelling needs.
Do you also offer customised camper van conversion solutions?
No. Our focus is on the development and production of high-quality, well-designed module series. The reason is simple: over the years, we have perfected our systems to such an extent that they offer maximum functionality with minimum weight. A purely customised system is often very expensive and time-consuming. With our modules and customised „fitting“, however, we offer you a solution that feels like a tailor-made extension, but remains flexible and affordable.
Can I buy a complete, ready-built vehicle from you?
No, we do not sell vehicles. We are the specialists for the „inner workings“. Our aim is to transform your existing everyday vehicle (or your favourite model from the dealer) into a mobile home base. This allows you to remain flexible in your choice of vehicle and you can even take our modules with you when you change vehicles.
Can I see the products in advance?
Of course, you are welcome to view the majority of our products in advance. But please call us beforehand and make an appointment with us. This way we can ensure that we have your desired product in stock.
Alternatively, you can order the products from a Brand ambassador view. You can view your desired system live on site and talk to an experienced user.
Can I drop by spontaneously without an appointment?
We are always happy to welcome visitors! However, as we are often busy in the workshop, we would ask you to make an appointment with us in advance. This way we can make sure that someone has time for you and that your questions can be answered. Simply write to us via the Contact form.

Can I also collect my modules from you in person?

However, if our production is fully utilised, it may take a little longer (up to 6 - 8 weeks). Accessories are usually available within one week.

Installation & safety
How do I install your modules in my car? Do I have to drill or screw for the installation?
As a rule, nothing needs to be drilled or screwed into the vehicle. All our modules are equipped with versatile mounting options.
Vehicle-specific mounting holes are even provided in the modules for common vehicle types or we offer mounting kits (adapter plates or similar).
Please note, however, that you as the driver or user of the vehicle are responsible for securing it yourself.
If you have any questions, you can contact us at any time. Click here for the contact form.
Can I get a camping licence with your modules?
Our modules are designed to fulfil the standard technical requirements of a motorhome (fixed cooking area, sleeping area, storage space, seating).
Important note on authorisation:
The legal requirements for an official transfer to a ‚special motorhome‘ vary from country to country.
- In Germany: Here we orientate ourselves on the specifications for an individual approval according to § 19 or § 21 StVZO.
- International: Different national regulations apply in other EU countries.
As acceptance is often at the individual discretion of the local test engineer, we cannot provide a general guarantee for successful re-registration in your country. However, we have found that our conversions are often accepted without any problems due to their high quality.
Tip: We recommend discussing the project with your local testing centre in advance.
Can you fasten your seatbelt on the modules while travelling?
No. The modules do not have any tested seats or belt points. They are legally regarded as cargo. During the journey, all passengers must sit on the original vehicle seats and use the seat belts provided.
Is there a sleeping solution that doesn't require me to remove the rear seats?
Short answer: Yes, this is often possible! However, it depends very much on which system you choose and how your vehicle is equipped. Here is the overview:
CampingBox Classic & Vario
With these systems, the rear seats can always remain installed. The box stands compactly in the boot so that the seats are fully usable during the journey. To sleep, the backrests of the seats are simply folded forwards and the bed system unfolds over them.
Van bed system
In vans, the centre bench seat can remain in the vehicle under certain circumstances. But beware: in this case, the bed in the interior cannot be pulled out. The system then functions as a storage solution while travelling, but offers no sleeping function as long as the bench is in the way.
Cross pull-out bed system
The lateral arrangement of this system sometimes leaves enough space in the centre aisle so that individual seats can remain mounted next to it.
Our tip: If you are unsure whether your seats can stay, contact us It's best to keep it short.
As the combinations of vehicle models and seat configurations (bench vs. individual seats, folding mechanisms, etc.) are almost infinite, it is „not always easy“.
What happens during emergency braking?
Safety is our top priority. As the modules are lashed to the original load eyes of the vehicle (which are designed for loads weighing several tonnes), they remain securely in place even during heavy braking manoeuvres.
Material & Quality
What material are the modules made of?
We consistently focus on sustainability and durability. 99 % of our modules are made from FSC-certified birch multiplex plywood and metal. We avoid plastic wherever possible. The wood is extremely stable, lightweight and does not warp, even with temperature fluctuations in the van.
What is the best way to clean the surfaces of the modules?
The coated modules can simply be wiped clean with a damp cloth and mild household cleaner. This is a great advantage, especially in the kitchen, as grease splashes or coffee stains do not soak into the wood. The same applies to the mattress covers: they are removable and washable at 30 °C so that your sleeping area always stays fresh.
How robust is the surface of the modules against scratches and daily wear and tear?
Our coloured modules (black, grey, white) are finished with a special, waterproof resin coating. This is significantly more resistant than conventional paints or varnishes. It can easily withstand the stresses and strains of moving EuroBoxes, cookware and constant reorganisation. If a deep scratch does occur after years of use, this does not affect the stability of the high-quality multiplex wood.
Is there a guarantee on the stability of the pull-outs?
We only use high-quality fittings and heavy-duty pull-outs in this area. Each of our modules is designed for durability. If, contrary to expectations, a mechanical part gives up the ghost after the warranty period, our system has a modular design that allows us to supply you with replacement parts without any problems.
Are there replacements for small parts that break?
If a component is damaged, broken or lost (such as a hinge, a locking part or screws), we will always find a solution and can usually supply suitable spare parts. Simply contact us via the Contact form.
Does the „natural“ finish require regular after-treatment?
Yes, the „natural“ version is completely untreated wood. So that you can enjoy it for a long time and it is protected from dirt, we strongly recommend treating it with hard wax oil or a suitable varnish. The great thing about this is that you can choose the colour yourself and re-sand and re-oil the wood at any time if it needs a „freshening up“.
How does the wood behave in damp conditions or extreme temperatures?
Birch multiplex is a laminated wood that is extremely dimensionally stable thanks to its gluing. In contrast to solid wood, it hardly warps at all - which means that it does not warp when it gets hot in the car in summer or when the humidity rises in autumn. The coated surfaces are also resistant to moisture. Nevertheless, like all high-quality wooden furniture, standing water should be avoided.
Do the modules smell of chemicals or glue?
No. As passionate campers, we know that you want to take a deep breath in your retreat. We use high-quality materials and coatings that are suitable for indoor use. The resin coating of the coloured modules is robust and odourless.
